Microneedling is a process where the skin is put under controlled trauma to kick start the body’s natural healing process. This encourages skin renewal resulting in brighter and smoother skin.
Microneedling rollers and devices can be used to create these micro-injuries. We prefer using a microneedling device as it is safer and more comfortable for you. The device also allows us to control the depth of the injury for noticeably better end-results. Small punctures to the skin are made using the device. As the needles touch the middle layer of the skin called the dermis, the blood flow to the area is increased, improving overall skin nutrition. Microneedling also improves the skin cell turnover by boosting collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.
Microneedling is commonly used to treat the appearance of skin damage such as scarring, pigmentation, ageing, sun damage and dull complexion.
"After becoming a mum of two, I was left with some saggy, wrinkly skin, and stretch marks on my tummy. I have been seeing Dr Yalda, who recommended microneedling. My skin texture has changed so much, and we are only halfway through. It takes about 20/30minutes, and for me, it's very tolerable. I would 100% recommend this procedure and can't wait to have the final results and have my tummy back!
This treatment has minimal downtime, and for comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied. You may notice a difference with one treatment but a course of 3-6 treatments is recommended. Ideally treatments are done 1 month apart to allow your skin to heal between treatments.
For the best resurfacing treatment, speak to Dr Yalda during your consultation about combining chemical peels with your microneedling treatments.
